Dans le cadre de la MICEFA et du CREPUQ, vous avez la possibilité de partir à l’étranger en M2. Le choix des cours doit se faire en accord avec les responsables du cursus et Mme Ball est votre enseignante référente (s.ball@wanadoo.fr) à qui vous devez communiquer vos coordonnées et avec laquelle vous devez garder le contact. S’il vous est possible de préparer le choix des cours à l’avance, vous devez savoir que les étudiants américains et canadiens s’inscrivent dès le mois d’avril. Certains enseignements des enseignements que vous aurez choisis ne seront plus disponibles et il vous faudra revoir vos choix : pensez à préparer un deuxième ou troisième choix. Nous vous rappelons que l’échange est négocié d’Université à université et non de diplôme à diplôme : votre implication dans la préparation de votre départ. Attention ! Les étudiants de Master ne sont pas nécessairement acceptés au niveau Graduate et seront obligés de suivre leurs cours au niveau Undergraduate.

CMS.405 Media and Methods : Seeing and Expression Examines the process of making and sharing visual artifacts using a trans-cultural, trans-historical, constructionist approach. Explores the relationship between perceived reality and the narrative imagination, how an author’s choice of medium and method constrains the work, how desire is integrated into the structure of a work, and how the cultural/economic opportunity for exhibition/distribution affects the realization of a work. Students submit three papers and three visual projects. Final projects are displayed and critiqued in an exhibition at the end of term. Instruction and practice in written and oral communication provided. Limited to 20.

CMS.609J The Word Made Digital Video games, digital art and literature, online texts, and source code are analyzed in the contexts of history, culture, and computing platforms. Approaches from poetics and computer science are used to understand the non-narrative digital uses of text. Students undertake critical writing and creative computer projects to encounter digital writing through practice. This involves reading and modifying computer programs ; therefore previous programming experience, although not required, will be helpful. The graduate section includes additional assignments.
